Every day we have a choice. Will we walk in the light of the Word of God or will we allow sin to creep into our lives. That is the free will that God has given us.
Establish my footsteps in Your word, And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me. – Psalm 119:133
Thankfully our daily choices do not have eternal consequences if we have put our faith and hope in Jesus Christ. He saved us despite our sin and we can do nothing to lose that salvation. That does not, however, give us leave to keep on sinning with a get-out-of-jail-free card.
We show our love and appreciation for the God that saved us in many ways. Worship, prayer, etc. But one of the key ways we show Him love is to obey His commands which come straight from His word.
The chief two commands are to love the Lord and to love each other as we would ourselves. It is very hard to do either one when we allow sin to creep in and take hold (or dominion) of us. Sin does us no good anyway, while God’s commandments are always for both our own good as well as the greater good.
So choose each day to make the right decision. Choose to walk in the Word of God.
