You Get What You Strive For

Proverbs 11:16

A gracious woman attains honor, And ruthless men attain riches.

Great, great verse.  Amazing how much power the Bible can pack into a few short words.  For me, this speaks to our motivations.

If all you want out of life is money, you can make money.  But at what cost?  Often times, it means neglecting friends and family or worse.  It might mean making immoral decisions placing one’s own greed above the common good.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for striving for prosperity.  Just not at the expense of others.

Living gracefully means giving grace as the Lord does.  It means forgiving those that hurt you.  It means giving more than you get with a cheerful heart.  It means laying down your life for the Lord and for “your neighbor.”  Striving for these things is what will bring you honor that is worth more riches than can be counted.
