The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.
Can you remember a time where you actually found your heart leaping for joy? Or perhaps a time when you were so happy you just burst into song? Everyone expresses themselves in different ways, but I’m willing to bet this doesn’t happen to most of you on a regular basis. If it does, bless you and please tell me your secret.
For most of us, we are so preoccupied with life and the daily routines that we forget to give thanks for the Lord for what we have. We are so focused on what we don’t have and what we want, that we forget to praise the Lord for what we do have. That great theologian Mick Jagger said “You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.”
I think David had a good grasp of God’s blessings when he danced in front of the Arch. When we truly focus on the amazing grace that our loving Father in heaven has bestowed upon us, we should be singing, dancing, and literally leaping for joy.
