A Prudent Wife

Proverbs 19:14

Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.

Can I just give a little love to the wives that are cutting coupons and finding ways to save money (especially in this time of economic uncertainty)?

Taking a look at the definition of prudent:

prudent –adjective
1. wise or judicious in practical affairs; sagacious; discreet or circumspect; sober.
2. careful in providing for the future; provident: a prudent decision.

Synonyms:
1. sensible. 2. economical, thrifty, frugal.

Making money is all well and good, but holding onto it is a blessing.  A wife that helps you do that is gift from God.

As for the first part of the verse, most of us won’t be counting on our parents for any substancial wealth and inheritance.  However, the values and work ethic that they instil in us are more valuable than gold.

  1. Amen to that! I can’t tell you the amount of money I save every week clipping coupons at the grocery store. I have always only bought things on sale. Abby is even catching the clearance rack fever when we are out clothes/shoes shopping.
